With generous donations from Access KC and partnership with Bridge Hill Eye, staff at Welcome Wellness were able to facilitate health screenings both onsite at Welcome Wellness and offsite at various elementary schools in the metro. For onsite vision screenings need was identified at Welcome Wellness’ quarterly health screenings. Participants who were in need were invited to schedule a time at Welcome Wellness’ once a month vision day. Thanks to partners at Bridge Hill Eye and Accesskc participants who met requirements were given a voucher covering a complete in-depth eye screening and a pair of prescription lenses and frames of their choosing. Children at various schools in the metro area were also given the same benefit. Welcome Wellness staff and partners travelled to Carver Elementary and Gladstone Elementary to provide screenings and glasses to hundreds of students. In doing so, sight issues were able to be addressed in the children before becoming too serious and vision issues in adults were able to be managed at the appropriate level.
